UPSL Announces Bossier City (La.)-based Red River FCs Dual Expansion Teams

Bossier City (La.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL for 2020 Spring Season
Published Nov 26, 2019

November 26, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Red River FC as a new member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Bossier City (La.), Red River FC is managed by Sport Advancement Team, LLC, and will begin UPSL play in the Central Conference Louisiana Division. The club will play its home games at Bearkat Stadium on the campus of Bossier High School (777 Bearkat Dr., Bossier City, LA 71111) in compliance with UPSL's National Standards.

United Premier Soccer League National Director Matt Kahla said, "Red River FC is a club on the rise and we're excited to welcome the to the UPSL's Central Conference. President Joseph Willingham wants Pro Development teams on both the men's and women's sides to be a part of the future of the club, and he know he'll find a welcoming home in the UPSL and the UPSL Women's Division. On a seperate note, our continued expansion in the Mid-South makes Bossier City a perfect starting point to initiate expansion throughout the state, while connecting Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. We're excited to see the best of Red River FC and wish the club the best as it prepares for the upcoming 2020 Spring Season."

Joseph Winningham is co-owner and President of Red River FC.  A former amateur player, Winningham is a business development specialist.

Red River FC co-owner and President Joseph Winningham said, "We knew that we needed a league with a strong reputation, a league that was for its teams and not for itself, a national league that is recognized as a strong league with affiliations, and one we believed will continue to grow with the game as the game itself grows. Our purpose is to develop and provide opportunity for local talent, but also to provide an avenue for our international partners to have a welcoming partner in the U.S. for players, coaches, scouts, trainers, referees and other sport officials to showcase and test their talents here. Soccer is not a culture of closed doors. We feel that the culture is an inclusive culture and that ideas, players, coaches and all of the fans should embrace the game in its entirety. While everyone will have their own favorite player, favorite team to dislike, or have difference of opinions, the game is more than just between the lines, it is a way for the world to connect at every level."

Rafa Muniz is co-owner and Head Coach of Red River FC's Women's Team. Muniz played professionally in both Brazil and the United States for more than a dozen years.

Red River FC will announce tryouts and its upcoming game schedule.
