January 17, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to welcome Cedar Rapids Inferno SC as a new member starting with the 2019 Spring Season.

Based in Cedar Rapids (Iowa), Cedar Rapids Inferno SC will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference, and will play its home games at Cedar Rapids Coe College Clark Stadium (12201st Ave., NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52504) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Midwest Conference Manager Cliff Conrad said, "We're thrilled to add the Cedar Rapids Inferno SC to the Midwest Conference. The city loves its soccer, and we're thankful to Kenan for bringing a club back to Cedar Rapids. The players and fans there deserve a quality experience, and I believe Kenan and the Inferno will be able to provide that for them."

Kenan Malicevic, 30, is President and Head Coach of Cedar Rapids Inferno SC. A native of Bosnia, Malicevic moved to the U.S. in 2005 at the age of 15 and was an all-state selection following his senior season at Cedar Rapids Washington High School. He matriculated on scholarship to Des Moines (Iowa) Drake University (NCAA Division I) before playing for professional clubs in Poland and Bosnia.

Malicevic returned to Cedar Rapids and earned a USSF National C Coaching License along with an MBA degree from Mount Mercy University. He played three seasons with Cedar Rapids Rampage indoor (MASL) and outdoor (UPSL) teams and last season played for Dubuque Union (UPSL) before creating Cedar Rapids Inferno SC.

Cedar Rapids Inferno SC President and Head Coach Kenan Malicevic said, "I will do my best to make this opportunity as perfect as possible for our city and for our players. We are going to try our best to get this team on a level that gives the players of Cedar Rapids a platform to show off their skills and transform their lives. We have some very talented players in the area that deserve this opportunity. Our city loves the game of soccer and we are excited to entertain our fans whenever they come to support us."

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
